Ghost Investigations: Ohio - Ash Cave
Ash Cave is closed from dusk to dawn. Ghost investigations after dark are part of park events.
For centuries, hundreds of thousands of the living have entered Ash Cave. In the light of day. But some have never left. One of these lingering souls residing there in the darkness waits for hikers along the trail, watching them, peering at them from behind trees. Following. Sometimes, she calls softly out to them. She is the Pale Lady of Ash Cave, the ghost that has been known to tag along on night hikes. In the Darkness. You don't want to be the last in line with her ghostly presence only footsteps away. And there are others. Dead soldiers. Native Indians. A child. Even nonbelievers have heard them, felt them, seen them.

The investigation was in Ash Cave. Because the chatter, laughter and banter of large groups while performing a group ghost hunt tends to distort and interfere with any audio activity picked up, I set up a voice recorder for approximately 45 minutes before the crowd got inside. There were four volunteers, including two younger, inside. You may hear them once in a while, however, listen carefully and you'll be quite surprised at the other audio picked up! (Also note, there was a waterfall present at the far end of the cave which will be a constant noise in the background).

In the late 1800s and 1900s, churches met in Ash Cave complete with choirs. Listen carefully and see if you can hear the singing in the background of our chatter.

In 1973, an 11 year-old girl was tragically killed in the cave when a stump feel from a cliff edge above the area she was hiking. Her name was "Debbie." You can just barely hear the name at the beginning of this EVP.
