Moonville and its
Haunted Tunnel
The town of Moonville came into existance in the 1850s with just a few farms, the Coe mills along Raccoon Creek and a small coal mine. Eventually, a railway was built through this section of Ohio and its path went through Moonville.
The town
was never huge, mostly homes scattered around the hills and valleys of Raccoon Creek. A tunnel was built through a hillside on the Henry Ferguson property, the infamous Moonville Tunnel.
Moonville would come to a grinding halt in the 1940s when there were only a few of the founding families still living in the vicinity. It was no longer feasible to keep a post office and depot there.
HOWEVER. . . the ghosts of its past still lingered on including an engineer.
