Haunted Ohio- Guide to the Hocking
Hills!
Because the Hocking Hills are a great
place to visit. So much that some folks just don't want to leave. Even after
they're dead.
Ohio's
Haunted Places in the Hocking Hills:
Check out some unique investigations with
the Hocking Hills Investigation Team (HITS) in conjunction with Hocking
Hills State Park and Lake Hope State Park!
Rugged
and bursting with hundreds of undiscovered and mysterious nooks and
crannies, the Appalachian hillsides of Southeastern Ohio have long
been a stop for weary souls journeying through the region. From
Native Americans hunting the densely forested land to early
settlers carving out a way of life in farming, the land has been
inhabited for centuries.
In fact, over a hundred and fifty
years ago so many small towns cropped up around the fast-growing
iron and railroad industries in the region that the area would give
Columbus and Cincinnati's 21st century urban sprawl a run for its
money. But the railroads left and the industry is gone. Little
remains of the existence of those from Hocking Hills spirited past
except a few scattered towns, dilapidated skeletons of iron
furnaces, abandoned train tracks and a few rock foundations hidden
in the weeds.
Or so some will say. Others tend
to think differently. In fact, there are some folks who swear the
Hocking Hills are covered with ghosts of the past still lurking
around. Maybe they can convince you it's true. Here are some
of their stories. . .

where you can hunt for these ghosts. Because of the danger of many areas like
the cliffs at Hocking Hills after dark, the trails close at dusk.
